So far the *metrics-Team has been participating at the following events in 2018:
Open Access Days: 24. - 26. September 2018, Graz (Austria)
The 12th “Open Access Days” was held from 24. to the 26. of September 2018 in Graz, Austria. Host was the Technische Universität Graz. The conference tried to attract anyone who is working on the possibilities and perspectives of scientific publication: e.g. Open Access experts from libraries, colleagues dealing with dissemination and reseachers in general.
The 5:AM Conference was preceded by the Altmetrics18 workshop on the 25th of September 2018. Further information can be found here.
5:AM: 26. - 27. September 2018, London (UK)
First held in 2014, this event aims to bring together an engaged group of institutions, researchers, publishers, funders and others from across the scholarly space to discuss all things altmetrics. In 2018, the conference took place in London at the School of Advanced Study on the 26-27 of September. Our *metrics-Team presented a poster and informed about the current state of our project. STI Conference 2018: 12. - 14. September 2018, Leiden (The Netherlands)
The 23. STI conference was held from 12. to the 14. of September in Leiden (The Netherlands). This years Focus was on the transition of indicators. The aim was to offer an international platform to discuss more comprehensive and contextualized indicators. Katrin Weller, Astrid Orth and Isabella Peters of the *metrics-team hosted track 11 about challenges of social media data for bibliometrics.
Workshop on Open Citations: 3. - 5. September 2018, Bologna (Italy)
From the 3rd to the 5th of September there was be a workshop on Open Citations in Bologna: Our *metrics-Team presented a poster on “How do citation-based and alternative metrics benefit each other?”. Further informations can be found here.
GBV Verbundkonferenz: 29. - 30. August 2018, Kiel
From the 29th to the 30th of August 2018 there was the 22. Verbundkonferenz des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbundes (GBV) in Kiel. Host of the conference was ZBW – Leibniz-Informationszentrum Wirtschaft - and the Universitätsbibliothek Kiel. You may find further information here.
Bibliothekartag: 12 - 15 June 2018, Berlin
Recent questions and solutions about Open Access are becoming more and more common in the day-to-day procedures librarians face. Therefore, the German Bibliothekartag shall not be missed, if one wants to inform themselves extensively. As well as in 2017, in 2018 *metrics joined the event with two contributions:
Open Metrics Seminar, 23 May 2018, Uppsala (Sweden)
The Swedish metrics Group was hosting the Open Metrics Seminar, to allow researchers to dicuss the oppurtunities and difficulties when working with open metrics. Our very own Steffen Lemke was invited as a speaker.
This year’s COAR Annual Meeting (Confederation of Open Access Repositories) took place in Hamburg. On May 14-17 2018, participants were able to interchange news and information regarding repositories, open access and open science with colleagues from all over the world.
The *metrics team was proud to host a workshop on the uses of metrics in different scenarios.
Dimensions Bibliometric meeting, 16 - 17 April 2018, Reading (UK)
After its recent launch, the Dimensions Platform is now interested in how to best develop metrics und support scientometricians. At the meeting in Reading, UK, scientometricians, research management professionals and funder representatives will have the opportunity to discuss and brainstorm the possibilities of Dimensions. The *metrics-Project was represented in Reading by Isabella Peters.
International Open Science Conference 2018: 13 - 14 March, Berlin
The new year‘s International Open Science Conference took place in the capital, Berlin. Organized by the Leibniz Research Alliance Science 2.0, it provided a significant forum for discourse regarding Open Science and especially on the usage of FAIR (findable, accessible, interopable, reusable) data principles. Isabella Peters took part for *metrics.
